These caterpillars can be found all over Anglesey right now. They are really long (around 10cm) and live next to the Heather and Ragwort.Chrysalis

Susan - Pili Palas is a butterfly house. Pili is the Welsh word for butterfly and I think Palas means palace or house. Most of these butterflies come from tropical places and are not indigenous to Wales. The caterpillar photo's were taken whilst dog walking with my granddad, they are native, but I don't know what they will turn into.
Tammie - the cocoons are fabulous aren't they. Reminds me of beautiful glass beads.

Lovely collection. So sad that they're so beautiful for such a short time. I took a visitor to a 'butterfly' house in January and he was over the moon that huge blue and black butterflies settled on his shoulders! Funny to see a man so chuffed by something so girlish.
Amazing pictures - despite me not being a bug fan today (there was a giant spider in my living room when I woke up!)
