Overlapping Circles

These pictures are dear to me.

As a child I was given the pictures, books and poetry of Mary Cecily Barker. I was brought up to believe in the magic of fairy's. I was told that I was the Jasmine Fairy.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I cross stitched fairy's for the nursery. You know, nesting, eagerly anticipating the new arrival.I didn't get much time to do this after the birth.

During my second pregnancy, I picked up uncompleted cross stitches left over from my first pregnancy... Now was as good a time as any to make the time. Again I was eager to welcome the new arrival to my family.

Nina, was stillborn. So instead, we planted flowers at her grave, hoping the fairies would bless her and keep her company. I chose a hazel tree, which we will plant in December.

When I buried my daughter, we planted Snowdrops and Snakeshead Fratilleries.

For the plaque, we have an engraved outline of the above hazelnut fairy and the following poem by William Butler Yeats;

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
