For the past 9 days I've been taking part in a pilot for Patricia Ariel's new online workshop 'Creative Astrology'. I've been quite blown away by the revelations of my birthchart. So much has been explained and makes sense now. There has been some really great group discussions. I think i'll feel at a loose end when the course closes tomorrow.
A couple of days ago Ariel circulated a message to the group titled 'One or two things I know about art'. It was such a sweet nurturing email telling us to cast aside all doubts about our abilities as artists. Art is instinctive and often, the doubts we have about our creative expressions are simply echoes of the things that were said to us in childhood. They are not true.
What I have discovered about myself during this course is that I really LOVE painting, drawing, collage, mixed media. Its such great fun. I learned that I assumed I was not any good at this aspect of creativity. But if I think about it, I can't remember trying this style of art since my early teens.
When did you last pick up a paint rush, or try the artistic form of expression that you tell yourself that you simply cannot do? Give it a go, you might surprise yourself.

Wonderful piece. I really like this one.
Looks like you had a lot of fun with this. I like the leafy mask.
It is just fabulous that you are exploring your birth chart and your passion for art! Every time I write a poem, I venture into a land of creativity in which I doubt I belong, but I love the challenge and usually the result. If you love it, you should do it!
ah, jasmine... this is so beautiful... and i am *really* smiling to read that you like painting and drawing!!
i too have learned a lot in my few days with the group. ariel is a unique and wondrous human - i feel blessed to have have gotten to know her, and to learn more about myself. i feel it is just the beginning - there is much more that i want to explore re: my chart and meditating before drawing. i think i'll do a smaller mandala next time though - 12" across just about did me. ; )
love,
lynne
i'd love to paint. you have a talent for it. sadly the image i have in my mind never appears on paper...
I love the colours you use - so rich and vivid!
I also am a big fan of Paolo Freire - it's lovely to see that quotation here
Beautiful. =) It's amazing what we tell ourselves we're not good at before we even make the first mark, isn't it? I do this to myself all the time. I'm glad you put it aside for you because, wow - that's a wonderful piece of art you have there.
when we are kids they tell us lots of lies about our limitations , not just about art ... everything .
your painting explodes in life and mistic energy ...
i am happy you had so much fun with this course .
ohhhh every time i think about my birth ... i was bouned at midnight of the day 20 to 21 of may ... nobody explains me wich sign i belong ... so i try to do not think about all that . hahahhh!!!!

It's really beautiful, Jasmine - the colors, the textures, the shape and flow of it. I like the flames!
Extracts of proverbs, negativity removed - that is exactly what we've done in that workshop, isn't it? Distilled the essence, thrown out the negativity and created something wonderful....xoxo

Thank you also for your visit and your prayers for VernaAnn!
We create our own limitations and therefore we can opt to look at life as if no parameters exist at all. We can become a blank canvas and create a brand new picture of ourselves and the world. We are magicians that can dance with miracles.
Sounds like an interesting and
affriming astrology workshop.
The art work is astounding.
How wonderful that you have dived so deeply into this. Your art is so alive. Thank you for the encouragement to pick up brushes and dip them in paint.
