Practicing Contentment

Yesterday I travelled to the Lakes District to see my mam at Manjushri after a ceremony in which she was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist Nun. She has now been given the new name 'Kelsang Minche' which means 'Fortunate one who ripens Buddha Nature'.

I travelled to Manjushri with my daughter, meeting my sister on route and finally meeting with two uncles and two aunts that I have not seen for a very long time. It was a beautiful and happy family reunion. We all wish my mam much happiness and contentment on her new journey as a nun.

To honour the occasion we have bought some Bodhi seeds for my mam and the Buddhist centre in which she lives. According to Buddhist tradition, Buddha is said to have sat under the Bodhi Tree the night he attained enlightenment.

I now leave you with the beautiful 'Tara' prayer that I am used to hearing my little girl singing to my mam.

I feel so happy for you mam. She must have invested her heart and spirit in this path. So lovely, as is this post, such an amazing tree and I enjoyed filling my wee cabin with this song.

That is beautiful news. I wish your mum fulfillment and feel warmed that she has joined others in contributing to a better world. I love that music so much, I shall try to find out how to acquire a copy. Blessings to you.

Lovely...and so envious of attaining the quiet required to find peace. *sigh* The world is so noisy.

The music was sensational...thank you.

How wonderful for your mam, she has followed her heart, not all of us have the courage to do that. Does she live at the centre now or teach or is she secluded. I know almost nothing about the rules.

All so lovely, many blessings to you and her...the sight of those flags in the wind, and the mountains, brought tears to my eyes, I don't know why.

It just seemed so peaceful.

Thank you Chantel. Pleased to meet you here :)

Jackie - My mam used to live at Manjushri for a short while but has lived in the Tara Centre for almost 2 years now. She assists in classes but does not teach yet. I think she may begin moving in that direction. Right now, she works and has duties at the Centre. The centre is very commune like, each resident and visitor take on jobs to keep the place running. She can often be found working at the peace cafe on her days off
x

Everyday Goddess - Thank you. I will pass this award onto my mum. She deserves it most :)

Manon - Thank you. I feel very happy for my mam.

Irish Gumbo - Thank you and nice to meet you. The video makes me feel tearful too. Very moving.

My comment must be wandering through the air cause I don't see it anymore. So again, congrats. And I have been listening on sundaymorning to that beautifull tara-song, the day my youngest girl had her 11th birthday. And believe it or not she got her first buddha from me, the laughing one, the one that's like her.
