Mabon, the Full Moon and a Medicine Wheel

Today is Mabon, the Autumn Equinox

A day of equal light and dark

A Harvest Moon

The first time in 20 years that the first day of Autumn has occurred on the same day as a full moon

Lets us not forget that this year was also guided in by a blue moon

This is a year for looking upwards
To greet the sky
Feel the wind on our cheeks
The rain kiss the lids of our eyes
The stars twinkle with joy

Embrace these precious moments

To mark this special occasion I entered into a Mabon Swap with the ethereal 'Faerwillow'

My gifts arrived, lovingly packaged with hand crafted items
Filling me with Excitement

Photographs of nature, a paper doll, tissue leaves, hand made tags
A clay leaf, and the softest woolen cowl

I feel blessed!

Look how at home they feel on my alter!

Thank you Faerwillow x

Feeling energised by the magic of the equinox, I set out to a gathering of new friends where we created a medicine wheel out of rocks and stones.

My new friends wish to heal the earth, and those that walk it. The acts of creation, ceremony, and ritualistic drumming were invigorating.

And, because life is for living, and some things should just 'be experienced' I did not stop to take pictures. All I can show you of this occasion is a picture of a tepee in which we all sat, shared food, and supped oak leaf wine.

Happy Autumn Equinox x

Happy Mangetsu (Full Moon)

In Japan they celebrate Jugoya – the Full Moon Festival. It’s also a celebration of the harvest.

Happy days

Wow Jasmine, fabulous post and thank you for reminding me of some things I have failed to notice.

Although in a sudden downpour of biblical proportions today, a ground level rainbow formed about fifteen feet in front of me and a group of four others. Its fully visible arc was lower than the surrounding trees, and we saw where it touched the ground. Surely a once in a lifetime experience.

Happy Mabon and full moon to you! May your harvest be bountiful and full of inspiration. Many blessings of the turning of the wheel.

For the first time in a decade, I didn't do a ritual here. I marked the day with gratitude after a very long day of work. Strange to let it go by without a community of kindred spirits - well, other than the forest beings and kitty Pasha....

Happy Mabon to you too Jasmine.
Your lovely post brought tears to my face as i remembered all the full moon gatherings with a circle of friends in my sisters tepee over the last ten years. There won't be any more as she is very ill now and all thats left are memories.

Jsamine,

I set out to visit the different pages of those who participated in the Autumn Equinox (Mabon)Exchange, and as I read each one I find myself smiling, and filled with warmth all anew.

The items each of you shared are exquisite, and you're right.. those really do look like those belong on your alter.

I'm so thankful to have gotten to participate in a wonderful moment, with such incredible women.

Brightest blessings,
~Angelique

This is so beautiful! My own Mabon was very intimate and quiet, but I love your gesture of hand-made gifts, I must remember to plan ahead for Samhain!
