Slow Cloth and Long Cloth

Today, I received a gift from friend Susan Sanford of Artspark Theatre. The little Prince long cloth that you see in the first picture was hand stitched and embroidered by Susan. Isn't gorgeous!

Susan was inspired to make this piece after reading the article 'undone' on Spirit Cloth. Jude's work is very inspiring. My own response to the slow cloths and hand stitching impetus kindled by Jude and other textile artists has been making these felt brooches. It has been a lovely project really, and very addictive. The felt is so tactile.

The natural coloured brooches that you can see are felt made from silk noil, merino, alpaca and silk. I only wish you could touch the felt, it is the softest I have ever made, pictures really don't do it any justice.

Thank you Susan. I am feeling so fortunate this week xxx

Oh Jasmine! What a sublime gift from Susan! I've marveled at this artwork when seeing it on her weblog!
Your brooches are wonderful - a perfect 'frame' for The Little Prince there in your photo.

love the brooches - my mother-in-law gave me two similar ones for my birthday, one in a rich blue that reminds me of your work, and the other in a chestnut brown - they are fabulous.

Working small can be a wonderful release.

The juxtaposition recalls the Christmas my sister's firstborn was brought for Christmas to my parents, there were so many presents, and so much chocolate, that at the end of the day he had a bit of a breakdown, and still hadn't opened all of his presents.

What a lovely gift, you are lucky to have such a friend :-) I can imagine how soft those brooches are having used silk and alpaca myself, they are so fine. I am feeling fortunate myself today having recieved a Butterfly gift.

Yesterday I received my one heart one world gift from you, I think the necklace is even more beautiful than in the picture on your blog. And it's so soft! And I love it's colours. And you wrapped it all so beautifully in one of your lovely boxes, filled with more gifts! Thanks Jasmine!

Hi Jasmine,
This is a stunning piece and a wonderful gift!:)
It does look very tactile... I love textured art like your work and this long cloth.
I do miss painting with thick oil paints, when you can really get your hands into the work!:)
I will now go and visit Susan and Jude at Spirit Cloth.
Thank you for sharing other people's creativity.;)
