Wearable Eco Art and a Bazaar Launch

Here you can see a picture of an embroidered nuno felt scarf that I made using Merino wool dyed in Nettles, a little Merino wool that as dyed with Blackberries, some samples of eco dyed wool, Blended Blue Faced Leicester wool, Vicuna, Tussah Silk and Bamboo.

Tomorrow I will list this scarf along with some photo's taken in natural daylight in my new online shop Natures Whispers Bazaar. I already listed a couple of items and plan to work very hard over the next few weeks to increase the stock levels.

You can enter the Bazaar by clicking on the picture above, the highlighted text or by clicking onto the link that will be a permanent feature on my side bar. Please feel free to look around and leave comments.

Wish me luck xJ

That is a gorgeous piece!
When did you start doing eco-dyed fibers? Can you recommend any good books on the subject?

Hi Jasmine,
This is a very magical scarf made for fairies I think!;)
The scarf is such a stunning lemon yellow... Your work glows!
I love Merino wool, it is so soft in texture. When I lived in New Zealand I bought some Merino and Possum wool socks!
Poor Possums, they are seen as a pests in NZ because they kill off all the native birds and other small wildlife.
I have to admit they are my best wool socks even though I feel sorry for the possums.:(
Caio's book is amazing... I was worried if it was going to turn up!
I will look forward to seeing your post too about his book.
Have a lovely week.:)

Thank you Susan. The colours are really wonderful, but i found it difficult to take pictures that did them justice. I will try again today.

Debrina - Hi, we are good thankyou. I hope that you are well? The snow has gone thank goodness, but we have some snowdrops which are always a pleasure.

T - Thank you. I hope you are enjoying that Australian summer of yours x

Kathy - Thank you. It is good to see you here :)

Ginga - I started dyeing with natural dyes before I becan using chemical dyes. I tried turmeric, spinach and beetroot but i did it all wrong as was not familiar with the process. I was lucky to get some advice off India Flint who has also written an amazing book which is a must buy for anyone interested in eco dyes. I follow a few blogs that show this kind of work - T above sometimes shows us her dyepots, and always has eautiful work in her posts, Yvette i think you know already, Dorie and Martine work with natural dyes. Then there is Ladka, helen, Manya and Rhivaldi Natural Dyes who write about there process too.

Some of the blogs write in Dutch or other European languages but they either have a google translate button or write in both their native tongue followed by English below. i recommend all of these blogs very highly.

Crafty - Thank you, I might need the good luck :)

Joanne - You say the nicest things :)

Caio's book arrived really quickly I thought, I was very pleased with it. i won't post on it until next month as it is a gift for someone and i don't want to ruin the surprise x

Oh that is just exquisite! The description of the fibres too has a faery-ness about it, you can imagine the wee folk stealing away pieces of fleece and dyeing them in acorn cups!

Tons of luck with the new shop, I am sure that you are going to do brilliantly.

You do such gorgeous work, good luck with your bazaar. I'll be looking forward to seeing it grow.

PS Yes, Israel is in fact quite beautiful :) (at least once you get a bit away from the relentless urban sprawl in the center).
