Hi Fiona. I wet fleted the peace flags out of raw fleece given to me by a new neighbour. I then needle felted the various peace symbols and designs onto each flag. Created a rope by tearing and plaiting a moslin that I have used to strain dye pot materials i nthe past. Its amazing that one moslin square will create a rope this long. I then sewed it all together with sparkly thread. I want a raw, innocent feel to these peace flags to keep the energy purer. I did not want to over process the felt.

Have you used a felting needle before? If not, email me your address and I will send you some xJ

Jo - Thank you. Just goes to show how many inspirational people there are out there that all work for peace. There was another quote by Martin Luther King, but I could not remember the exact quote. Went something like, 'Peace is not just the destination, it is the way we arrive there too'. xJ

Janine - Thank you. It has been a fun project. I have wanted to make some peace flags for a long time :)

Love them! I've been thinking I needed to make my version of prayer flags, haven't landed on quite what they are yet... but I did know they would be peace flags of some sort. I guess you had the same idea! Beautiful!

Jasmine, beautiful post and such moving words too. I love the peace flags & such a wonderful idea, how sad that there are folk out there shallow enough to remove them!!!

wish I ws a reader of those kind of books, but I still don't give it to myself or give it to some other priorities. At the other hand I know there are inspirational women like you and reading the quotes feeds me very good. so thank you Jasmine

Ooooooh ... I love the felt peace signs!!! They are beautiful!!!

On another subject, a couple of books I read this past month were by British authors -- Jane Green and Penelope something or the other, and music that I purchased lately was minted in the UK! I've had a bit of fun, trying to figure out the slang! Peace!

wonderful flags and sentiments ....i am inspired to make some peace flags with my pupils I work in a school that needs more love and peace ....x

Thank you all for your kind comments. I had a lot of fun making the peace flags, and had wanted to make some for quite some time. I think I will be making some more in differing styles before this year is through. I may make some for gifts too.

Artymess - making some with children is a great idea. Schools are such an important place to learn tolerance of other cultures and that we are not all that different to eachother as it might seem. Understanding and love are key. I wanted to place a tree on the flags so surfed the net looking for peace tree symbols and came across this lovely site which is full of classroom activities and links for different cultural inclusion programmnes and religious festivals. If you are going to do this in a school theis link will be helpful.

Thanks again to all that left comments xxJ

love these, especially the tree with all the symbols..wouldn't that be amazing if all the worlds religions/peoples could embrace each other..without boundaries.

"... When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase each other doesn't make any sense."

:) one of my fave's :)

love and hugs to you..xx

Hi Sarah, yes the quotes are good. I don't get to read as much as I'd like to so sometimes, I read poetry, or websites with quotes for different words. They bring a lot of balance. xJ

Thank you Carolyn :)
