Hi Fiona. I wet fleted the peace flags out of raw fleece given to me by a new neighbour. I then needle felted the various peace symbols and designs onto each flag. Created a rope by tearing and plaiting a moslin that I have used to strain dye pot materials i nthe past. Its amazing that one moslin square will create a rope this long. I then sewed it all together with sparkly thread. I want a raw, innocent feel to these peace flags to keep the energy purer. I did not want to over process the felt.

Love them! I've been thinking I needed to make my version of prayer flags, haven't landed on quite what they are yet... but I did know they would be peace flags of some sort. I guess you had the same idea! Beautiful!

This a great post Jasmine. I love the felt piece with the tree on it especially. I was thinking as I read this it would make a great collaboration...and then I saw it was for international peace day. Good on you:)

On another subject, a couple of books I read this past month were by British authors -- Jane Green and Penelope something or the other, and music that I purchased lately was minted in the UK! I've had a bit of fun, trying to figure out the slang! Peace!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I had a lot of fun making the peace flags, and had wanted to make some for quite some time. I think I will be making some more in differing styles before this year is through. I may make some for gifts too.
Artymess - making some with children is a great idea. Schools are such an important place to learn tolerance of other cultures and that we are not all that different to eachother as it might seem. Understanding and love are key. I wanted to place a tree on the flags so surfed the net looking for peace tree symbols and came across this lovely site which is full of classroom activities and links for different cultural inclusion programmnes and religious festivals. If you are going to do this in a school theis link will be helpful.
